Announcing My Latest Book: Locksley — The Untold Story of Folsom’s Black Community
This blog posting is a little different from the norm, but with joy, I use this platform to announce my latest research publication titled Locksley: The Original Black Families of Folsom, PA. Although this book focuses on a local community, you will find that it may apply to your community. I once heard someone complaining about the erasure of Black History. For me, it is time to tell the untold stories that lie in our families, communities, and beyond. History starts locally.

Introducing Locksley: The Original Black Families of Folsom, Pennsylvania
I am thrilled to share a project that has been more than twenty years in the making: my new book, Locksley: The Original Black Families of Folsom, Pennsylvania.
Growing up in Folsom, I sensed that every house, every street, and every family had a story to tell. But those stories — especially those of African American families who made this community their home — were rarely told. Locksley is my attempt to change that.
This book traces the journey of Black families in Ridley Township from the 1850s through the 1970s. Using census records, genealogical research, and personal memories, I explore how families like the Adams, Crawley, Frame, Perry, and Rice households built lives in the face of challenges such as redlining, segregation, and economic shifts. Yet what shines through most is their resilience, faith, and commitment to the community.
Locksley is part history, part genealogy, and part memoir. It is about one small community in Pennsylvania — but it is also about America. It asks each of us to reflect on our own neighborhoods: Who built them? What struggles and triumphs shaped them? And how can we preserve these stories for future generations?
📖 Locksley: The Black Families of Folsom, Pennsylvania, is now available on Amazon in paperback and Kindle.
